From the North and Zion Crossroads (Exit 139 off I-64) Take Exit 136 and turn right onto Rt. 15 south toward Palmyra and Fork Union. Go through the town of Palmyra and go over the bridge that spans the Rivanna River. Continue on Rt. 15 and then turn right on Rt. 640 (Haden Martin). Turn right onto Rt. 639 Long Acre Road. (Just past a little white church). In approximately 5 miles the Scheier Natural Area will be on the right.
From Charlottesville: (Plan on 40 minutes from I-64) Take Exit 121 off I-64 and follow Rte 20 south toward Scottsville. Turn left onto Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway) (you will pass Monticello and Michie Tavern). Go 5.3 miles and turn right onto James Monroe Parkway (795) toward Ashlawn-Highland and go 2.6 miles and turn left onto Rolling Road (620). Stay on Rolling Road for 11 miles (be careful of a jog at the intersection of 620 and 708) and turn left onto Long acre Rd (639). Scheier will be on your left .
From Scottsville: (Allow 20 minutes) Take Route 6 East to Kidd’s Store. Turn left onto rt. 620 – Rolling Road. Go right onto Long Acre Rd (639). Scheier will be on your left.
From Lake Monticello: (Allow 26 minutes) Take route 53 East toward Palmyra. After the traffic circle and the Cunningham deli. Turn right onto route 619 – Ruritan Lake Rd. Take the next left onto Schlater’s Ford Rd – route 660. Follow it to the end. Turn right at the Tonto Haden-Martin Rd – route 640. Just past the little white church (maybe .2 mile) Turn right onto Long Acre Road – rte 639. Follow it for almost 5 miles and watch for the Natural area on the right (just past the hiker sign).
Open 365 days a year. The following activities are prohibited:

- Camping, jogging, swimming, hunting
- Collecting, digging, cutting
- Transporting and releasing wildlife to or from Scheier (state law)
