RCA and its various community partners host at least two Rivanna River Sojourns each year in cooperation with the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle and Fluvanna. The sojourns, held in April and October, offer novice and experienced paddlers the opportunity to traverse the beautiful Rivanna River with family and friends. RCA provides the boats (kayaks and canoes) and transportation for participants (between the put in and take out spots) as well as light snacks at the end of the paddle. These trips are done at a leisurely pace so everyone can enjoy all the Rivanna has to offer regardless of paddling experience. View the calendar for upcoming dates.
The RCA River Stewards paddle different sections of the Rivanna each week March – November (weather dependent). Community members are welcome to join the River Stewards for a paddle; please email Stewards@rivannariver.org if you are interested in joining!
